MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

WHERE EVIL GROWS

For the last two weeks, I’ve been exploring the source of evil. Whether we believe in it or not, we are all affected by the demoness (or agents) of corruption. The Bible has an insight you may have missed. “The reason the son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. (I John 3: 8) Certainly sounds like a war going on!

We have been warned to avoid “the world” which is how the scriptures express Evil at work around us. Let’s call it “the System.”  The System is the work Evil performs around us every day of the week, 7-24. So far, we’ve learned The System principally operates through sex, money, and power. (I John 2:16) The inordinate desire for lust and greed have been explored. Let’s look at the craving for power. The relentless quest for ascendency and position makes one vulnerable to the control of The System that will eventually destroy us. The desire to be all powerful not only corrupts, but kills. Here’s an example.

Few people in history have the overwhelming desire for power that was true of Heinrich Himler, the head of the dreaded Nazi Gestapo. On May 20, 1945, British soldiers arrested a German soldier on the Berweverde bridge that is about twenty-five miles from the town of Luneberg. The man looked like a typical Wehrmacht German soldier. Now dressed in civilian attire, his papers said his name was Hitzinger. He had a bandage around his head that covered his right eye. Something didn’t fit. The man was arrested and taken to a military police station.

For three days, the soldiers interrogated Hitzinger. Finally, the pressure became too great and he confessed. “My name is Heinrich Himler,” the creator of the dreaded Gestapo.

The Brits didn’t believe him and made the man strip. Covering him with a blanket, they began a scrupulous search of is body. When they started to search his mouth, Himmler bit down on a cyanide capsula concealed in a tooth and died instantly.

Three days later, Himmler was buried in an ignorable pit of dirt in the forest where his grave is lost. The man who claimed to be the reincarnation of Emperor Henry I disappeared in the dust. A product of The System.

The point? We are meant to be humble servants of the Most High. That takes us out of The System and places us in the Kingdom of God that endures forever. Here’s the answer we need in dealing with The System. “If my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14) That’s where we must stand in a time like today.

AND HOW ABOUT SEX?

MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

AND HOW ABOUT SEX?

Two weeks ago, I wrote about 1 to 1.5 million witches and their involvement with Evil today. I got back a response. “I am contacting Dr. Wise because I’m an evil witch… I am tickling your voodoo doll … I do dark magic on you” Interesting response.

A week ago, I wrote about the impact that the desire for power can have on people. Scripture warns about “loving the world” or the world order that embodies Evil. We are told that this “world order” stands on three things: sex, money, power. (I John 2:16)

This week we explore how Evil uses “the lust of his eyes” (the New International Version), or “the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes”.  (The Revised Standard Version) In other words the problem is not sex per se, but lust.  The inordinate desire to possess and control other people and their possessions; To get our hands on what we don’t rightly own.

What might that look like?

Let’s take a look at an actual person for example. (A pseudonym use for anonymity sake)

A New York County found George guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records. A separate civil suit found him guilty of sexually abusing and defaming a woman and awarded her $5 million dollars in damages. As of October 2024, since 1970 at least 28 women had publicly accused George of various acts of sexual misconduct that include rape and sex with minors.  (It’s all on the internet)

At the Miss America pageant, George told Howard Stern “he got away with going backstage when the contestants were naked.” George once said, “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful- I must start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.”

This list doesn’t even consider the allegations about the Jeffery Epstein relationship involving physical contacts with underage girls. In addition, George has a history or insulting women with suggestive comments about their physical appearance and making derogatory epithets.

Leaving all politics aside, this behavior illustrates and embodies what the scripture describes as the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes that makes one part of the evil “world order.” Once a person is caught up in this world of lust, they become vulnerable to the physical manipulations of the Evil One and all sorts of behaviors follow.

The point? Take seriously the insight, “And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but he/she who does the will of God abides forever.” (I John 2:17) If we stand above the lust that is around us, the hand of God can guide us to the higher ground. The heavenly Father is looking for people who can be trusted to take the inspired road.

Next week we will take a hard look at the desire to acquire all we can see.

Remember: Miracles never cease.

HOW NOT TO GIVE IN TO EVIL

MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

Rev. Robert L. Wise, Ph.D. explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.

HOW NOT TO GIVE IN TO EVIL

Everywhere people are struggling with the impact of evil. You are not alone. You are surrounded by friends worrying about the world situation, the economy, the wars. We have good reason to wring our hands. In contrast the New Testament says, “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith,” (I John 5:4) Holding on to that promise, we need to develop insight in how no to be deceived by the Evil One. Scripture tells us that we have three areas of vulnerability; sex, money, and power. (I John 2:16).

We need to explore each of these three areas. During the next couple of weeks, we’ll research how our failure to be perceptive can make us vulnerable to the attack of Evil. Today, let’s consider how the lust for power can make you into a victim of Evil.

Take Adolph Hitler for example. Somewhere along the way, Hitler became obsessed with the failure of Germany in World War I. In turn, his passion developed into a quest for power. His absorption with the pursuit of control swallowed him. Evil had won.  What followed?

Hermann Rauschning, the Governor of Danzig, knew Hitler well. Hitler would go into ecstasy when he talked about the “new man” the Nazis were creating. But that’s only half of the story. Rauschning also observed Hitler waking up in the night screaming and in convulsions as well as seemingly to be half paralyzed. Utterly confused, he babbled away, making unintelligible sounds. Gasping, he also came to the point of near suffocation.   His lips turned white and he sweated profusely. He used strange expressions hung together in bizarre disorder. Suddenly, he might scream and point, “There! There! Over in the corner! He is there!” After these outbursts, Hitler would fall asleep again and appear normal.

Hermann Rauschning recognized what was happening. He dropped out of the Nazi party and fled to Switzerland. What followed? Adolf Hitler brought the deaths of at least 20 million people during World War II.

That’s a picture of how an obsession turns into a possession. Hitler needed deliverance ministry. He chased the wrong dream.

And the lesson for us? Don’t trust leaders who want to control the world. They are evil. But first look in the mirror. Do you seek power? Oh, maybe in small doses. You know, like controlling your friends, relatives, others? That’s where the problem starts. Right now, disavow domination or any desire to be above or control other people. Ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse those tendencies out of your life. What should your objective be?  Jesus said, “Store up for yourself treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:20-21) That’s what you’re after!

            Remember miracles never cease.
