LOVE PREVAILS

These accounts hopefully encourage you to know the hand of God is there when your need occurs. No one can predict what will follow, but my interviews with hundreds of people indicate He is always there. Here’s an example.

Snow was falling everywhere in northern Michigan when Scott Peterson’s car went out of control and slammed him into a stranded motorist. In -9-degree weather, timing was critical, and Scott knew he was losing blood fast. His last word before losing consciousness was a cry, “Jesus!”

An ambulance rushed Scott to the hospital when doctors discovered his femoral artery was severed. The lower half of his body was in critical danger. During the seven-hour surgery that followed, Scott received thirty-two units of blood.

But that was just the start.

Forty-eight hours later, Scott was life-flighted to the University of Michigan in an effort to save his life and legs. With such a huge amount of lost blood, Scott wasn’t expected to live. His wife Diane was told amputation was probable and that he wouldn’t survive.

In addition to praying for his life, Diane refused to limit what her faith could provide, she reached out for God’s unconditional love. Diane knew she didn’t have the strength or patience to survive the ordeal, but she believed God would provide what was needed. She hung on in constant prayer.

Scott went into a coma that lasted for nine days and during that time flatlined. Everyone believed his life was over. But he wasn’t there.

During this time, Scott Peterson stood in the presence of the Lord. Almost unable to believe his eyes, Scott was with Jesus Christ. Later he remembered, “When I saw Jesus, I realized how much He loves us. I was very happy to see Him, but He was even happier to see me. I knew I was totally accepted.”

 Scott returned.

His wife was overjoyed, and he doctor was amazed at his rate of recovery. Today Scott is healthy and walks on his own two legs. He and Diane live by faith. They know love prevails.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.

A REDEEMING INTERVENTON

Each week these stories are offered to encourage you to reach for the hand of God when need arrives. No one can predict what will follow, but my interviews with hundreds of people indicated that a divine intervention always waits in the wings. Steve and Holly Trover will tell you this is so.

In 2008, Steve was praying about his business when he felt the Lord telling him that they were to have another child. Already with three beautiful children, he was surprised as was Holly when he shared the leading. Holly conceived almost immediately. A couple of months into the pregnancy, they went to the doctor for an ultrasound test.

They were shocked.

After careful measurements and calculations, the physician relayed devastating news. Their baby would be born with Down syndrome. Explaining slowly and carefully, what the tests revealed, the doctor was certain the child would be born severely affected. His recommendation was that the pregnancy be terminated. The Trovers listened, but had no intent to have an abortion.

Steve and Holly turned to their small group for prayer and support. They reflected on the teaching of their church. They had also received insight from an Andrew Womack seminar.  Together they prayed and decided to stand on what they believed the Bible taught. Regardless of what was ahead, they decided to reject an abortion and stand in faith to face what was ahead.

When several months had passed, they returned to the doctor, he once again went through the examination process. The physician once more checked and rechecked. He took measurements several times. Finally in exasperation, he threw up his hands. There had been a transformation in the Trover’s baby.

Baby Nathaniel was born perfect.  Newborns are rated on a APGAR scale where scores range from zero to ten being the best. Nathaniel was a ten, a perfect score.

How does one find a miracle? Steve and Holly Trover suggest listening to the Holy Sprit and standing firm on what you believe to be true.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.

ONE STEP LEADS TO ANOTHER

Dana Taylor attended Our Lord’s Community Church where she developed an interest in healing ministry. A short time earlier she had delivered her daughter Cary, born with a clogged tear duct. The doctor assured Dana the problem was common and would disappear quickly. Unfortunately, it didn’t.

After months of the problem, eye, sinus, and ear infections followed.  Cara was put on anti-biotics but the struggle continued. During this time, Rev. William Vaswig came to Our Lord’s with a message about healing ministry. Dana immediately began praying for the gift. That evening her hands became very warm. Remembering what she heard at church, Dara covered Cary’s ear with her palm. When she took Cary back to the doctor, that ear was healed much to her surprise.

After an interlude when the Taylor’s had a fire in their house, Dana returned to Our Lord’s Church for a special evening Fellowship of the Healing Christ Service where teams of people prayed for personal need. Dana came forward. She worried that the baby was not with her, but remembered the New Testament story of the Roman soldier’s servant who was healed even though Jesus never saw the man. Standing on that promise, Dana asked the three members to pray for her baby. They laid on hands and the four women prayed.

Two days later for the first time, Cary was completely healed.

As the days passed, Cary continued to have other healing experiences. Taking one step at a time led to other encounters that have continued to bless her life. Every time Dana looks at her daughter’s beautiful brown eyes, she is reminded that the Healer is among us.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.

FINDING THE WILL OF GOD

MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

Rev. Robert L. Wise, PhD explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.

FINDING THE WILL OF GOD

I’ve known Tina Brown seems like forever. In fact, her family has been important to me for over fifty years. A couple of years ago, I wrote her father’s story in I MARCHED WITH PATTON that became a best seller across America and the world. Back in 2017, Tina wrote me about her struggle. She emphasized how important it can be to find the will of God.

Tina grew up in the church and lived a Christian life through her teenage years. Married and on her way, Tina fell into hard times. As she struggled with difficult decisions, nothing seemed to turn out right. She found herself walking down a path that wasn’t going anywhere with no sense of direction. As time when by, she became calloused. Her struggle began to leave her cold and with time Tina became indifferent. Nothing was turning out right.

Ever have that feeling? Certainly.

Millions of Americans know they need a definite sense of direction but don’t know where to find it. In these weekly blogs I encourage people to discover that God stands on the other side waiting to give them new hope. We call those moments of divine intervention miracles. Whatever word you want to use, we can discover that our heavenly Father wants to break in and touch our lives.

Tina woke up in the middle of the night and made a conscious decision to reach out and see if God was still really there. Tina needed a spark of hope. She got up, went over to her computer, turned it on, and began to pray. Tina asked God to speak to her.  She looked at the computer screen and there was my blog on the will of God. She read it and then read it again. I had written about finding the will of God and the difference that discovery can make. One line leaped off the screen.

“Discovering the will of God is one of the first steps that unlocks sealed doors.”

Tina knew she had found the answer she was seeking, She had forgotten to follow the leading of God for her life. As I recall, I had written that in the Gospel of John Jesus said; “Whoever has my commandments and obeys them, he/she is the one who loves me … and I will show myself to him/her.” John 14:21. As Tina read those lines, she had found the answer for her life.

A miracle? A divine intervention? I’d say that when despair is turned into direction and deliverance you’ve been touched by the hand of God. Tina Brown agrees.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.

HELP IN TIME OF NEED

MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

Rev. Robert L. Wise, PhD explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.

HELP IN TIME OF NEED

Many people are surprised to learn that the miraculous dimension has played such an important part in bringing people to faith in countries around the world. The problem in America has been a lack of openness. Author J.P. Moreland writes that a major factor in the Christian revival in the Third World has been through signs and wonders as expressions of God’s love for His people. Estimates as high as 70% of new believers are brought in through this door.  Other estimates suggest that 90% of the growth of the Church in China has come through healing miracles. When people are in need, they become open to the possibilities in a profound way.

I saw this happen in my own church a number of years ago. I was holding a seminar on a Saturday morning when the front door of the church opened. A brother and sister brought in their father who was obviously struggling to find his way.  I stopped the seminar and walked over to the family. At that moment, I realized the father’s eyes were open, but the man was blind. He needed his children to keep from falling or running into a wall.

“Can I help you?” I asked.

Even before they answered, I could see that they had a different nationality from most of the people in Oklahoma City. I was to learn they were Iranians and had immigrated to America during the upheaval in that country. (Names have been changed to protect their privacy)

“We are Muslims,” Janan said. “But a friend told us that your church prays for the sick. We don’t care about any differences we might have. My brother Radin and I are deeply, deeply worried about our father. Can you pray for him to see again? Right now?”

I glanced back and forth between the brother and sister. Radin looked even more panicked and distressed.

“I have no power to heal anyone,” I explained. “But I can call on our Heavenly Father to touch your father. The Holy Spirit cannot be seen, but he brings healing in His presence.”

“Please do this thing right now,” Janan pleaded. “We must have help.”

By this time some of the people in the seminar had gathered around us. “Let’s all lay our hands on this good man and pray together,” I said. “We need God’s touch right now.”

The group began praying fervently for the healing power of God to be released. Together we interceded for the father’s blindness for several minutes. Abruptly, he cried out, “I can see! I can see!” The brother and sister began to weep as their father walked around confirming his sight was restored.

Although no one asked this Muslim family to respond in any particular way, the brother and sister joined our church and confirmed their newfound faith. Such is what is happening all over the world today. And in America? Sure, the same happenings occur with those who reach out in faith. Healings are a confirmation of the Gospel story.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.

MNC GOLDEN OLDIES: MEET MIKE AND BETH

MEET MIKE AND BETH

Part Four

Alcoholism is a disease for which there are significant medical treatments. At the same time, some forms of the addiction become a vehicle for evil. Alcoholism is not the only problem that is both a medical problem as well as the tool for evil intrusion. Often at the root of the problem are experiences that have created guilt or anxiety that the victims use alcohol to cover. In the last blog, I reported how the Bishops Mike and Beth Owen encountered evil and began a ministry of defeating the demonic invasion that has swept across this country. Here’s another example from their experience.

Mike’s father called about him and Beth ministering to a fellow worker whose addiction to alcohol was destroying the man’s life and pushing him to contemplate suicide. After picking up a friend who had experienced a miraculous recovery from addiction before entering the ministry, they went to the man’s house. Their friend was always soft spoken.

The curtains were drawn and the unkempt house was cold, and dark. A stale heaviness hung in the air, making the room smell like a dilapidated bar. An evil aura seemed to hover around the house. When the door opened, the blurry-eyed man stood there extremely drunk. At once, he dropped to his knees and grabbed the Owens’ friends around the legs.
“Christ forgive me,” the drunk sobbed. “Have mercy on me.”

In contrast to what they expected, Mike’s friend shouted with sternness, “Come out of him you spirit of addiction and you spirit of alcoholism!” The minister kept demanding release to break the hold Evil had on the drunk.

“Do you want to relinquish your life into the hands of Christ?”

“Yes!” he cried. “Oh, yes!”

“Be set free!” the minister exclaimed.

The drunk stopped sobbing and abruptly stood up. The awful odor and stench of alcohol seemed to float away from the room. His face cleared and brightness returned to his eyes. Peacefulness settled around him. In a matter of minutes, he had gone from complete intoxication to sobriety and a countenance of contentment.

The possession by Evil had been broken.

Whether the release would be considered a miracle or not, it was certainly a divine intervention. In these incidents, Mike and Beth realized that they were growing in their ability to minister with empowerment. Their ability to enter into the realm of the miraculous was increasing.

In the days ahead, they would be a formidable foe of evil. Their path is not unique. Anyone can decide to stand against evil and learn how to become a vehicle for divine intervention.

TAKING THE NEXT STEP

On day after her husband left the family, Susan strolled down the street. With each step, she felt more rejected and discarded. The feeling of being disclaimed kept growing. Susan kept looking at these trash bins lining the curb and feeling like she had been dropped into one of them.

Suddenly, Susan heard, “You are rejected, discarded.” She realized a person she didn’t even know was her mortal enemy. Another woman wanted to destroy her. Never in her life had she had such a feeling, but she knew some specific person wanted to demolish her… Her heart filled with fear.

Susan turned around and ran through her garage door and into the den. When she fell on the rug oppression swept over her. Once again, Susan wept profusely. Finally, she grabbed her Bible and cried out, “Help me.” When she opened the scripture, she read, “For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you’.”

She instantly knew the Lord was speaking and present in her despair. Susan read again, “I will help you.” She looked at the page twice. “Those who contended with you, those who war against you shall be as nothing, as a nonexistent thing.” Susan stared in amazement. Nothing could be clearer. God had spoken.

As had been true in the past, the Lord used the words of scripture (often out of context) to send her a clear, decisive message. The heavenly Father used the Bible to speak and bring reassurance in the midst of her despair.

Susan realized never had she been more free. She had received a miracle.

When she reflected on what had occurred, Susan recognized God had reversed the order of what she experienced strolling down the street. She walked, felt rejection, saw trash cans, ran, and knew she had an unknown enemy. However, when the Holy Spirit intervened she discovered she was chosen, not rejected. Her fear and rejection were reversed. When she cried out for help, he answered with a Biblical promise. To combat this unknown enemy, the scripture promised strength. The enemy would become nonexistent.

Later she learned the name of the women who was chasing her husband. This person had blatant disregard for his marriage.

Susan sat up and raised her hands in air. She began shouting, “I love you God! More than anything in my life, I love you!” She kept praising God as the realization settled in that she had also crossed the bridge from loving the idea of God to loving and adoring Him in the deepest possible personal way. The divine intervention had taken her to an entirely new place of personal relationship.

As the years have gone by, Susan has rebuilt her life. She is highly successful and continues to walk a path in which God can speak and does.

Just remember… Miracles never cease.

HELP FROM BEYOND

The earliest Christians condensed their convictions into the Apostles Creed. Churches around the world recite this Creed every Sunday. They affirm that they believe in the “communion of the saints.” Some groups assume this means showing up for fellowship suppers. The first century Christians believed in much more. They contended that their relationship with believers didn’t stop at death, but continued on into eternity. They didn’t pray to the deceased saints as if they were gods of some kind, but as their friends who would always care. So, if you ask someone to pray for you, the first Christians did the same with their friends, now saints in eternity.

Can that practice still be helpful? Consider this story that was printed on July 27, 2022 in the statewide newspaper The Daily Oklahoman and was broadcast in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on News channel 6. Johnny Workman told his story.

While he was working, a 30,000-pound asphalt roller got out of control and rolled over him. With the weight of two elephants on his chest, Johnny Workman was smashed to the ground. The accident fractured at least 27 bones in his chest. He blacked out, believing he was dead.

Before we go further, let me introduce you to Father Stanley Rother. A missionary priest from Okarche, Oklahoma. Blessed Stanley had gone to Guatemala where he was martyred on July 28, 1981. He would not leave his people trapped in a civil war and was shot to death during the night. He was officially recognized as a martyr by Pope Francis in 2016.

When Johnny Workman’s family rushed to the hospital, they prayed frantically and evoked the communion of the saints, calling on Father Stanley Rother to add his help. And where was Johnny Workman during this time?

While unconscious, Johnny Workman was swept up in a vision- like experience. Father Stanley Rother picked him up off the ground and helped Johnny to his feet. As they started walking, Mother Mary came alongside. The three of them continued on a journey as if they were walking toward heaven. Although he had never met Fr. Rother, Johnny remains absolutely certain, the priest stood with him. They walked on.

When Johnny Workman recovered consciousness, the doctors and nurses were amazed and believed only a miracle could have saved him. Johnny said, “I know with 100% fact that it was miracle in my eyes.”

Ever ask friends to pray for you? If they should die, don’t stop asking them to continue. Can I explain this experience or discern Johnny Workman’s story? Not a chance. My conclusion is trusting God is always the answer. And don’t forget the “communion of the saints.”

Just remember. Miracles never cease.
