MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

SUMMER RERUNS

The corona-virus pandemic has made it impossible for me to make the contacts to continue reporting extraordinary happenings to ordinary people. However, I’ve got a mail bag of these great stories so I’m recycling some that you probably never read. Here’s an example.

A MIRACLE IN THE SNOW

Genesis 16:7-14 describes an angel visiting Hagar, telling her she would have a wild son named Ishmael. From the sound of the story, the angel appeared like a human and would have looked like any of us. In many of the previous blogs, I have described experiences in which angels could be heard speaking through someone’s mind, but were never seen. However, that’s only one dimension to the story. Here’s another experience.

My good friend Joe L. Wheeler wrote My Favorite Angel Stories (Pacific Press) describing such an encounter. Kari Surdahl relates she and her mother were traveling to Rapid City, South Dakota when a blizzard struck. Subzero temperatures made the weather extremely dangerous. Kari had slowed down to a crawl when the explosive bang shook the car.

A tire had gone flat!

Kari knew that the freezing temperature made changing the tire dangerous, but they had no alternative. The spare tire had to be put on for them to keep going. And keep going they must in the icy weather.

Kari reasoned that by jumping in and out of car she could keep warm, but snow would have to be brushed away from under the car. The task would be perilous.

With all of her might she tried to turn the wrench and loosen the lug nut. Nothing moved. Kari threw all of her weight on the tool. Nothing. She knew they were in big trouble. She and her mother would freeze to death!

But when Keri told her mother, she got an unexpected response. “The Lords knows our desperate need at this time,” she shouted into the whistling, brutal wind. “Let’s kneel down beside this flat tire and ask him to help us.” Mother and daughter knelt in the snow and called for divine intervention.

As their prayer ended, the bright lights of a pickup truck came up the road. A man who looked like a rancher got out of the truck and offered to help. As Kari watched he turned the wrench effortlessly. She was amazed. The man quickly had the spare on and wished them well.

Kari and her mother were astonished. It had all happened so quickly and completely. They got out of the car to thank him, but he wasn’t there. He’d probably gotten back in his pickup. They went around to the back. There was no pickup. He couldn’t have left without them seeing him go. They looked again.

There were no tire tracks. No sign was left in the snow. The truck and the man just suddenly vanished.

Mother and daughter got back in their car and realized what had happened. An angel had saved their lives.

If you’ve encountered a divine intervention, I’d like to hear you’re your experience. Please write me at: revwise@ att.net

SUMMER RERUNS: DIVINE INTERVENTIONS IN HOLLYWOOD

MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

SUMMER RERUNS

The corona-virus pandemic has made it impossible for me to make the contacts to continue reporting extraordinary happenings to ordinary people. However, I’ve got a mail bag of these great stories so I’m recycling some that you probably never read. Here’s an example.

DIVINE INTERVENTIONS IN HOLLYWOOD

In 2007, I wrote Crossing the Threshold of Eternity about the near-death experiences of people I knew who had returned to earthly life after being pronounced medically dead. Some of these stories were miracles; others divine interventions. However, they touched a nerve with many people who worried about their own deaths. These experiences revealed that the hand of God kept working when the human heart stopped.

Recently, CLOSER magazine revealed the stories of several Hollywood actors who had similar experiences. While not all were in the category of “a miracle” as defined in previous blogs, they reflect actions by the Holy Spirit that challenge us to dig deeper (which is the purpose of these blogs).

I write about people I know or have interviewed. I do not know actress Sharon Stone, but her story is important to share. As she lay in UCSF Medical Center fighting for her life, the actress thought her pain was so great that her head might explode. Doctors frantically searched for a cause, but the throbbing increased and Sharon thought her life was ending. She was experiencing a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage.

Abruptly, an over-powering sensation of well-being and peace descended over her. She felt her body leaving the hospital room and floating toward a glowing, expanding light. Sharon Stone believed she had died.

As she moved into the realm of this glorious light, she met some of her dearest old friends who had died. She was deeply moved as they talked and recovered contact. Sharon knew that she had left this world behind and was in a place of a wonderful light that brought reconciliation. Suddenly, she was sent flying back to the hospital room and returned to her body.

After she recovered, Sharon Stone realized that this experience had so affected her life that she would never be the same again. She was no longer afraid of dying and now says that she sees death as a gift. Sharon knows she is never alone.

Sharon Stone’s doctor Michael Lawton has worked with many people who had such experiences. He noted that when they encounter loved ones who had already died, they found them to be in “the peak of health, fit and happy.” The doctor has seen this many times. Her experience confirmed his observation.

What can we conclude? The goal of my blogs is to help readers rediscover a biblical perspective on divine interventions and healings. The objective is to raise the bar in their expectations. Sharon Stone’s experience can certainly help us to do so.

Quinton Moore grew up in Pentecostal land. His grandmother had been the baby sitter for Oral Roberts while the cotton pickers worked in the field. Today Jessie Moore would be thought of as an old time Pentecostal. She lived in a world that assumed miracles came with the Christian faith. Quinton grew up in rural Oklahoma where Pentecostalism was a major religious force.

Grandmother Jessie Hargrove, a full blood Cherokee-Osage Indian remains as one of his early memories. Quinton watched her pace back and forth praying in the Indian language and in tongues. Suddenly, she stopped. “Yes!” Jessie cried out. “I sees him!”

Eight-year old Quinton wasn’t sure what was going on, but watched his grandmother grab a shawl and run to the door.

“Come on, Quinton,” she demanded. “We got to get to your uncle quick. I now knows where he is now.”

Quinton piled into the pickup and they went flying down the road. He had no idea where they were going or where they were. Grandma Jessie seemed to have a map in her head and only she knew what was ahead. After a number of 90o turns on dirt roads he had never been on before, Quinton looked up and saw what was ahead.

“Hey!” he shouted. “That’s the cab to my uncle’s truck turned over!”

“Yes, son,” Grandma Jessie said. “That’s what the Holy Spirit showed me.”

They pulled up alongside the semi-trailer cab laying on its side. Jessie leaped out and climbed up the underside of the cab. “Just as the Spirit said! Your uncle’s down there out cold. He’s hurt. I’ll try to shake him loose. You run to that house over yonder and have them call an ambulance. Git with it!”

Quinton went running down the road to the nearest farm house. They were able to get his uncle to the hospital and saved his life. But Quinton couldn’t ever forget that experience. Without any knowledge of even an accident, through her prayers his grandmother Jessie had been able to discover the disaster and locate her son. She considered divine interventions to be simply part of her journey.

In the next several blogs, we will attempt to understand what was going on with people like Grandmother Jessie Moore. They will add another dimension to our insights in how divine interventions occur.

TUNE IN ON THE INTERNET

Christy Clark started running a fever of 105 and became so sick she couldn’t drive herself to the emergency room at the local hospital. She placed a damp washcloth on her forehead and fell back into a sleep. Without any idea of how long she had been in a troubled sleep, Christy felt herself being awakened by a beautiful bright white glowing angel. With long white flowing hair, the angel seemed to be female.

The angel reached down and took Christy’s hand, helping her raise out of bed. When Christy looked back, she could see herself laying in the bed with a washcloth still on her forehead. The angel led her straight through the bedroom wall. As they floated through, vibrant colored lights like sparklers flashed reds, yellows, greens. The journey with the angel led her to a magnificently beautiful place covered with bright white light. At the other end was an even brighter white arched open doorway guarded by a different angel.

Christy peered through the entryway and saw the forms of people walking by that she knew were human souls. They smiled and waved to her, motioning for her to come in with them, and Christy felt she belonged there. Everything about and from her physical life no longer mattered. All she could think about was entering this beautiful space with them. Like the pull of a strong magnet, she felt her soul being tugged through the archway.

The white-haired angel floated back close to Christy’s side and told her that they had to return. Christy protested that she didn’t want to leave this beautiful place. The angel explained that Christy still had a great deal of work to do on earth and many people needed her help. It simply wasn’t her time. The angel took her hand and started leading her away.

Suddenly, Christy was back in her room standing in front of her body, still sleeping with the towel on her face. One minute Christy was outside and the next back in her body. Christy still felt sick, but the fever had broken.

She had heard about out of body and near-death encounters, but remains quite certain what she experienced was not a hallucination. Her night journey to heaven remained as real as everything around her. All fear of death was gone.

SURPRISING CHANGE

MIRACLE BLOG 18 November 21, 2016 MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

Robert Wise explores the world of Divine intervention and miracles from an objective point of view. Can 21st Century people believe that the hand of God touches people in today’s world?

Read and you’ll find new insights.

Generally people form their expectations of what God can do and does from what they’ve read in the Bible —only. For example, if a healing doesn’t occur instantly, they decide prayer doesn’t work. If Welch’s grape juice doesn’t become Gallo wine, they are discouraged. Let’s be clear, there’s no problem with what is in the Bible, but the stories must be seen as examples of a starting point and not a finish line.

We must add continuing human experience and consider the Bible as a spring board. The scriptures call us to open our eyes and hearts to greater expectations. Charlotte had such an experience.

In August, 2012, Charlotte had a total knee replacement. She knew it was coming and had put it off too long. Of course, knee replacements can be painful and Charlotte struggled. She knew about Leslie Draper and her ministry that stemmed from contact with the angels. Some people might consider that approach on the bizarre side, but Charlotte needed help. And Leslie was anything but bizarre.

From years of working with human need, Leslie had learned how to listen to angels. She silently turned to them to hear their direction for what should happen next. In Charlotte’s case, the direction was for an “energy healing.” Interesting indeed.

Angelic direction suggested that the problem was that Charlotte’s body was treating the knee replacement as a foreign object and attempting to reject the intrusion. The body’s resources were focused on getting rid of the artificial knee rather than embracing it.

Leslie came and prayed for a shift in the body’s energy. Her prayers and ministry were aimed at bringing the knee into harmony with the body. The sessions were aimed at restoring concord in Charlotte’s entire system.

Thirteen days after the surgery, the doctor took the staples out. To his shock, there was little swelling. Healing was far better than he expected. The next step was the physical therapist doing a knee flexion measurement on the knee. He, too, was shocked and surprised. The therapist told Charlotte that in two to three months the goal was a measurement of 120 degrees. In three weeks, Charlotte measured 128 degrees.

Charlotte had a miracle.

It wasn’t walking on water – but it was walking across her living room with no pain. The heavenly Father cares about such things. Expect Him to care for you – without defining how, when, and where His response will come.
