WHEN THE AVALANCHE FALLS

The Bible says that we have angels to guard us, even to keep us from striking our feet against a stone. In other words, angels hover around us providing protection. Is this true? Ask Chantal Lakey.

Chantal and her boyfriend Dale were climbing on the sheer cliffs hundreds of feet above the ocean, winding their way through the loose shale that felt like black ice. A thin drizzle settled around them. As they carefully chose their way, they could hear waves beating on the beach fall down below. Without realizing where they were going, they stepped into a steep cliff with slippery footing.

Dale had started to climb back from the cliff when his footing slipped. Without a sound, he crashed into the rocks fall below. Dale died instantly.

Chantal was terrified and clung desperately to anything she could get her hands on. She cried out as loud as she could. “Oh, God! Help me! Please don‘t let me die!” Panic stricken, she clung to a boulder… that could also slip.

She suddenly felt as if the gateway between heaven and earth opened. Some undefined “something” was happening. Chantal saw angels fluttering about her, forming a wall of protection. They were buoying her up, holding her, closing in on her to keep her from falling. Chantal knew she was not alone.

Still, she had to scale up a 400-foot cliff. Looking up, Chantal realized that not even a skilled climber could scale the sheer drop. She could only cling to the huge rock. The next thing the woman remembers is looking up and seeing the high cliff far above her. Chantal was only seventy-five feet from the beach. Somehow, she had climbed down more than three hundred feet of slippery, wet shale. Only angels could have cushioned her safe descent.

Suddenly, Chantal begam to slide again toward the edge of the remainder of the cliff. Once more she cried out for help. She was going to drop into the boulders below.

Chantal felt a heavenly hand behind her. Her fall suddenly stopped. Slowly, she finished winding her way down, knowing that the angels were guiding her safely to the beach. As she wound her way back to the highway seeking help, Chandal could feel the presence of angels leading her forward. Their presence stayed with her through the remainer of the day and into the night.

When the sheriff’s crew arrived, they looked up the cliff Chantal had come down and concluded that even with ropes and equipment, it was impossible for anyone to climb down the cliff.

But she did.

A loving, caring God had saved her.

And your conclusion? Let me assure you that you have a guardian angel. Don’t hesitate to call to and seek this heavenly friend. No circumstance or situation is beyond angelic control. Jesus said, “Ask and you shall receive.”
