MIRACLES NEVER CEASE

Rev. Robert L. Wise, Ph.D. explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.

GETTING PAST THE STORM

Everybody has lived through frightening storms. When we were children, the deluge seemed especially overwhelming. As adults, we came to grips with the fact that lightning and thunder do have to be taken seriously. Margaret Ann Gutierre made one of the most important discoveries of her life because of a dangerous rainstorm. She can tell you about the surprise that might appear with the crash of lightening and the pounding thunder.

As a teenager, she always took the short-cut through a friend’s backyard that had a large swimming pool. Since the town didn’t require fencing around a pool, Margaret Ann walked right by the water coming and going from her friend’s house. On this particular day, Margaret’s father called for her to come home. It had started raining and he warned her to stay away from that swimming pool.

Lightening was crashing and the large body of water attracted thunderbolts. Would be dangerous to get too close to the water. Margaret decided her father was overreacting and started out with the familiar path alongside the swimming pool. However, the rain was even worse than she realized. Lightening was crashing all around her. Margaret’s fear was turning into terror. The rain came in torrents with lightening flashing on all sides punctuated by terrifying thunder.

Margaret Ann found herself standing by the swimming pool, realizing she should have obeyed her parents. No matter which way she turned, Margaret Ann could see that she was about to be a victim. She was paralyzed with fear. Her legs would not work or move.  And then she saw the figure.

Margaret Ann knew she was looking at her guardian angel. An extremely tall exquisite, holy, beautiful being was suddenly standing right in front of her. Surrounded with a blue-white light that was brighter than the lightening. The angel glistened in spite of the storm. With a beautiful complexion, she had long golden wavey hair and vivid blue eyes. A golden circle like a headband was around her head. The angel’s face was so peaceful and quiet that it radiated assurance. The angel beckoned for her to follow.

Margaret Ann felt confidence radiating toward her and drawing her own body forward. Time stood still. With lightening crashing around her and the storm thundering, Margaret Ann knew she could walk right through the onslaught. She started moving forward again, knowing her guardian angel was leading her home.

You don’t have to be standing in a storm to know how paralyzing fear can be. Next time you are hit by anxiety and fear, remember you have a guardian angel that might just be there in front of you seen or unseen. Everybody has one.
