HAPPENS OVER AND OVER AGAIN

As the summer lengthens, so does my pursuit of the miraculous. Each week these blogs ae aimed at helping people discover that God is deeply interested in them and they can access His blessing. Just happens over and over again. This week I was talking with Brian Burrows about his experiences with the Holy Spirit and the subsequent gifts for healing that were imparted to him. Brian’s experience can help you find insight and faith.

I caught Brian as he and his wife were packing for another one of his trips for ministry. He had just returned from Zambia and Africa on a similar excursion. Brian and Vicki Burrows minister abroad and across America. Brian’s journey of faith started 51 years ago just after graduating from McMurray College in Abilene, Texas. Back in 1971, the Charismatic Movement was just beginning and people were discovering the work of the Holy Spirit. Brian received this baptism of power and his life was forever changed. He didn’t know exactly what had happened to him, but set out to discover the meaning of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Brian’s been on that journey ever since.

Immediately after he came into this new walk with the Holy Spirit, Brian attended a Full Gospel Businessmen’s Convention in Denver, Colorado. As the group broke for lunch, Brian noticed a blind man walking down the hall, using a cane to find his way. The inner voice of the Spirit spoke. Brian was told to stop the man and pray for him. Brian had never done anything like that in his life, but he knew being faithful to voice of God was crucial. He walked over and asked the man if he could pray for him. The man was instantly healed.

When I asked Brian how this occurred, he said, “I was faithful to the voice.”

Today Brian helps people learn how to “tune in.” He notes that the Holy Spirit often speaks to people through their natural dispositions. For example, people with an artistic bent see pictures or visions. Other who are more auditorily included hear words. Everyone has their own particular inclination. Brian’s important suggestion is to be open and responsive to what God says.

Here’s a case in point. Recently Brian was in a grocery store and noticed a lady walking by with a brace on her leg. He felt the call to pray for her and asked her if he could. Right there in the middle of the store, the lady’s leg was healed. Your gifts may be different from Brian’s, but you can have just as important a ministry.

Could God use you in the same way? Absolutely. It’s a matter of learning to tune in. Don’t be afraid to open your “spiritual” ears. You will receive new direction.

Just remember. Miracles never cease.
