MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!

CHAOS PREVAILED UNTIL…
Who can deny that we are living in a time of chaos and confusion? On every hand, evil appears to be surging rampant through the land. Whether it be politics, the economy, or war, media reports are most often startling and depressive. The world seems to be spinning out of control.
Certainly, it seemed so to Howard Storm. A businessman, Howard also considered religion to be a fantasy. He plowed ahead in the pursuit of commerce without looking back, but still he couldn’t avoid the pressure of upheaval around the world. Chaos remained supreme everywhere he looked.
On a trip to northern Europe, Howard Storm became ill. The upheaval had moved inside him. A medical examination confirmed the worst. Howard needed immediate surgery. However, before the operation could be performed, his worry and anxiety pushed him over the edge into a world that he hadn’t believed existed. Howard Storm had an out-of-the-body experience.
As he became aware, Howard found himself submerged in a heavy fog. On all sides, people (or somethings) were pushing and shoving him. The threshing finally knocked him to the ground. From deep within him, Howard’s own voice cried out, “Pray to God!”
From out of nowhere, he began to recite the Twenty-third Psalm. “The Lord is my shepherd …” As he quoted the line, the creatures around him went into a frenzy. Howard’s thinking shifted and he began saying The Lord’s Prayer. “Our Father who art in heaven….”
The tormentors disappeared. When he finished the prayer, Howard knew they were all gone. Sitting alone, he began singing the children’s song “Jesus loves me.” Like a child, he sang, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” As the words of the little song finished, Howard cried out “Jesus, please save me!”
A tiny speck of light broke into the darkness surrounding him. The light became larger and larger, brighter and brighter. As the Light enveloped him, Howard began to cry and started feeling and experiencing what he had never let himself confront. Then the light became an illumination of love. A new kind of love flowed through Howard. Finally, Howard Storm was told to go back and live his life, telling this new story of redemption and healing.
In our time of darkness that we are living in right now, everyone of us needs that same spark of light to shine into our places of gloom and night. Uncertainty to be transformed into promise. And it can be. Wouldn’t that be a miracle? Reach for it.
