MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!
Rev. Robert L. Wise, Ph.D. explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.
DISASTER LOOKED INEVITABLE UNTIL ….
Prayer isn’t about telling God something he’s overlooked or didn’t know about. Neither is interceding a spiritual version of a rabbit’s foot hanging from the sun visor. Rather, prayer is our focusing the energy of our heavenly Father on a particular need. Interceding is releasing our experience of the love of God to touch a special need. Prayer is opening our heart and soul for the Father to use us in the best way He desires.
Here’s an example.
Jacki Carllson has been a friend for decades. Recently Jacki shared an experience that happened to her nine-year old son. Chris developed a serious stomachache and had to be put to bed. When nothing improved, Chris was rushed to the hospital. The diagnosis was immediate. He had a bowel obstruction the size of a football and would have to wear a colostomy pouch for at least sometime.
After the surgery, the doctor’s prognosis was certain. A number of weeks later, another surgery was necessary. Ten inches of his colon would have to be removed as it was twisted. Of course, the removal of intestine from a child could have other serious complication, but nothing else could be done. A section of Chris’s intestine was dead.
Jacki began calling everyone she knew to pray. A teams of intercessors gathered around Chris’s bed to petition their heavenly Father. People with a gift of intercession prayed fervently. As Jacki studied the Bible for answers, she had a growing sense that something important was happening to Chris. Jacki kept praying
When the day for the surgery arrived, Jacki met the doctor in the hall. “I am expecting a miracle today,” Jacki said dogmatically.
The doctor smiled as if placating her and walked away. Jacki watched him disappear behind closed doors and settled into the waiting room for the long operation to be finished.
More quickly than was expected, the doctor came out of the surgical area shaking his head. “Never seen anything like it,” he said. “Can’t believe it.”
The twisted intestine had straightened by itself and regenerated. The dead tissue was healthy and normal. He didn’t have to remove anything.
The doctor concluded, “You got your miracle!”
Today Chris is a grown man. Does prayer work? He’s a living example that it does. Got a need? Prayer can make all the difference.
