MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!
Rev. Robert L. Wise, Ph.D. explores the world of divine interventions from an objective point of view. An Archbishop in the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches with a Ph.D., Rev. Wise relates his interviews with persons who experienced the touch of God.
THE AIRPLANE SMASHED INTO THE TREES THEN…
Recently I was talking with my agent Greg Johnson when he handed me a book. “I think you’ll find this story right up your alley, Robert. It’s the account of a small airplane that crashed after taking off from the Burbank Airport. Dale Black has written his story of surviving the crash that took the lives of two of his friends.” He handed me a paperback entitled Flight to Heaven published by Bethany House. As I thumbed through the pages, I found Dale Black’s story fascinating.
When the twin-engine plane took off, Dale Black knew they were ascending way too slow. His friend Gene was a most competent pilot. Surely nothing could be wrong, but the other friend Chuck recognized the same problem. They weren’t climbing!
Suddenly pine trees began to appear in the windshield. The airplane wasn’t going to get above the trees. Dale knew they were running into a disaster. The plane clipped the tops of the trees. Dale braced himself for the impact. They smashed into the trees!
Pieces of the airplane scattered everywhere. Chuck and Gene had been thrown from their seats and lay on the ground. They were gone.
When the paramedics arrived, they found Dale staggering through the rubble in a state of shock. His hands were holding his blood-drenched face with a piece of the airplane sticking out of his head. The ambulance rushed to the hospital and wheeled Dale into the emergency room. Then, it happened.
Dale Black found himself hovering in mid-air looking down on his body. He could watch the medical team in a flurry of activity trying to save his life. When they moved him onto a metal table, Dale continued to watch from the ceiling high above. As the team worked feverishly, he seemed detached from what was happening to his body. Dale felt no anxiety, no pain, no stress, nothing.
As they worked, Dale continued to look around the room. He could see the medical equipment, the floor, the medical instruments. He watched detached from all pain. Abruptly, a memory flashed through his mind. He was a little boy in the fifth grade who had Jesus as a friend and loved him. Then he started rising. Moving away from his body and going ever higher. Steadily upward.
Three days later, Dale Black awoke from a coma. He wasn’t sure how he got there. Bandaged and still physically struggling, he was alive. Dale Black had gone through a life changing experience because by miraculous power he had survived the crash that killed his two friends.
In other blogs I have written about similar out of body experiences. They remain as an assurance that eternal life exceeds anything that happens to us physically. These encounters encourage us to persevere by faith each day in anticipation of the future.
Remember. Miracles never cease.
